Online Craps for Real Money: Which US Casinos Actually Have It

Craps is the loudest game on a casino floor and one of the quietest online. Slots are everywhere, blackjack is everywhere, roulette is everywhere. Craps is not. Plenty of legal US casinos still do not carry it at all, and several that do carry only a version that looks live and is not.

I went through the game lobbies, the provider pages and the regulators to work out who has craps, in which states, and which product you are actually loading when you tap it. Most pages ranking for this term send you to sites that are not licensed anywhere in the United States, which is no use to anyone playing from New Jersey or Michigan.

Which US casinos actually offer craps

Every casino below holds a state license. I have listed the exact game titles where the casino or the game’s maker publishes them, because “has craps” hides a lot. A lobby with one animated craps game is a different proposition to one with a dealer, a table and other players on it.

Two casinos publish a full list of their banking and game options and craps is not on it. bet365 is worth separating from that, because bet365 does carry craps, but its casino runs in New Jersey and Pennsylvania only. You will see bet365 quoted as a seventeen state operator. That figure is its sportsbook. The casino is two states.

Some I could not settle. betPARX does not name craps anywhere I could read, and it is absent from every craps roundup I checked, so I am not going to claim it either way. Horseshoe and Harrah’s run on the Caesars platform and probably mirror Caesars Palace, but probably is not good enough to print. Tropicana appears with craps in one place and nowhere else. Check the lobby yourself before you deposit anywhere on the strength of one game.

First Person Craps is not live dealer craps

This is the single most useful thing on this page, so I am putting it near the top. First Person Craps is a computer game. There is no dealer, no camera and no physical dice. Evolution, who make it, describe it in their own words as a random number generator version of their live craps game.

It gets mistaken for the real thing constantly, and not only by players. One of the biggest casino information sites in the world currently states that First Person Craps is Evolution’s live dealer craps product. It is not, and the maker’s own product page says so.

The confusion is understandable, because Evolution built it that way. First Person Craps is rendered to look exactly like their live studio, down to the room. It also has a button marked GO LIVE that drops you straight onto the streamed table. So the computer game contains a door into the real one, and if you have never looked closely you would assume they were the same thing.

What it means in practice:

• First Person Craps: animation, no dealer, no other players, no waiting. You roll when you want to roll. Published return to player is 98.60%.
• Live Dealer Craps: streamed video, a real dealer, real dice, a shared table with other people betting on the same roll, and a chat box. Optimal return to player is quoted at 99.17%.
• Both: the same bets, the same payouts and the same underlying math. Two dice are two dice.

If a casino lists First Person Craps and nothing else, that casino does not have live dealer casino games for craps. PlayStar is the clearest example in the table above.

Nobody throws the dice in live craps

Half the appeal of craps in a real casino is that you eventually get the dice. That does not happen online, and I have not seen a single page explain why.

Evolution’s live craps table has a real dealer, real dice and a real table, but the dice are fired by a machine. The dealer loads two dice into a mechanical launcher, betting closes, and the launcher throws them down the table into the back wall. The dealer still moves the puck, collects the dice and talks you through the round. What they never do is hand them over.

There is no player shooter and there cannot be, because there is no player in the room. If the reason you like craps is holding the dice and blowing on them, online craps is not going to give you that, and you should know before you sign up rather than after. Everything else survives the trip. The table is real, the bets are real, and the noise of other people betting against your roll is real.

Evolution launched live craps in November 2020, which makes it one of the newest live products in the market. That is the honest reason it is still missing from so many lobbies. It is not that the casinos dislike it, it is that the game itself is barely five years old and only one company makes it.

Where you can play, state by state

Real money online casino gaming is legal in seven US states. That is a much shorter list than sports betting and it is the first thing to check. Nevada has online poker only and is not a casino state.

• New Jersey. Regulated by the Division of Gaming Enforcement, live since 2013, and the deepest craps market in the country. Every variant named on this page is available somewhere in New Jersey. If you are here, see my New Jersey mobile casinos guide for the full operator list.
• Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, live since 2019, around twenty licensed casino brands and craps widely available. One wrinkle worth knowing: Caesars Palace reportedly does not carry First Person Craps in Pennsylvania even though it does elsewhere.
• Michigan. Michigan Gaming Control Board, live since January 2021, fifteen licensed operators. This was the only state where I could tie a craps game to a regulator notice directly, on FanDuel’s own game pages.
• West Virginia. West Virginia Lottery, live since 2020, around nine brands. DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, BetRivers, Fanatics, Golden Nugget and Hollywood all operate here.
• Connecticut. Department of Consumer Protection, live since October 2021, and only two casinos exist: DraftKings through Foxwoods and FanDuel through Mohegan Sun. Two well known sites state that Connecticut has no craps. Mohegan Sun’s own game lobby lists Live Dealer Craps and First Person Craps. Go and look for yourself, it takes ten seconds.
• Delaware. Delaware Lottery, one platform, three brands, all run by BetRivers. Sources split on whether craps is live here. I could not settle it, so treat Delaware as check first.
• Rhode Island. Bally’s holds a monopoly and state law allows online slots and live dealer table games only. Computer generated table games are not permitted. That means First Person Craps cannot legally exist in Rhode Island, and live craps is the only route there is. This is a rule about the state, not a choice by the casino.

Maine legalized online casino gaming in January 2026 with exclusivity for the Wabanaki Nations, but nothing has launched, so there is no craps to play there yet. The odds multiple is the comparison nobody makes

Ranking pages compare craps casinos on game selection and welcome offers. Neither changes what the game costs you. The odds multiple does, and it is the one number worth chasing.

Here is why. When a point is established you can place a second bet behind your pass line bet, called free odds. It pays true mathematical odds, which means the casino takes nothing at all on it. Zero. Not a small edge, none.

• Point of 4 or 10: pays 2 to 1. There are six ways to roll a seven and three ways to roll a four, so 2 to 1 is exactly fair.
• Point of 5 or 9: pays 3 to 2, against six ways to seven and four ways to make the point.
• Point of 6 or 8: pays 6 to 5, against six ways to seven and five ways to make the point.

Because that money is free of any edge, adding it drags the average cost of your whole wager down. The pass line bet itself still carries its 1.41%, so you never reach zero, but you get closer the more odds you are allowed to back it with.

What that does to your money, taking the pass line as the example:

• No odds: 1.41% house edge.
• 1x odds: 0.848%.
• 2x odds: 0.606%.
• 3x, 4x and 5x odds: 0.374%.

So a casino that lets you back your bet with five times odds is selling you the same game at roughly 40% of the price of a casino that caps you at two times. On reported figures DraftKings allows up to 5x, BetMGM up to 3x, and FanDuel and BetRivers up to 2x. I have seen those multiples in one place only and casinos change them, so confirm it on the table itself before you commit, it is displayed in the game.

That single number matters more than which of these apps has a slicker lobby, and it is the reason I would start at DraftKings for craps specifically. My full DraftKings mobile casino review covers the rest of the operation.

House edge on every craps bet

Craps has more bets than any other casino game and they are not remotely equal. Before the table, one thing that trips up almost every page quoting these numbers.

House edge in craps is quoted three different ways and they are not interchangeable. Per bet made is the cost per dollar you put down. Per bet resolved is the cost per dollar actually settled, which is much higher on bets that sit on the table unresolved for many rolls. Per roll spreads it across every throw of the dice. Quoting a place bet one way and a pass line bet another, side by side, makes one look far better than it is. The table below gives you all three so you can compare like with like.

The field figure above is for the version paying 2 to 1 on the two and 3 to 1 on the twelve. A lot of tables pay only 2 to 1 on both, which is worse for you. Check the felt in the game before you use it, the payouts are printed on it.

Two bets on the same outcome at very different prices

Big 6 and big 8 versus place 6 and place 8. These bets win on exactly the same thing, your number rolling before a seven. Place 6 costs you 1.52% per bet resolved. Big 6 costs you 9.09% for the identical outcome, because it pays even money instead of 7 to 6. It is the clearest trap on the table and it is sitting there in the corner looking friendly.

The hardways. A hard eight means two fours specifically, not any eight. There is exactly one way to roll it and ten ways to lose, and the price reflects that.

Any seven. The worst bet in craps at 16.67%, worse than almost anything you will find in a casino outside of some side bets on blackjack.

Stick to the pass line, back it with as much free odds as the table allows, add place bets on six and eight, and you are playing one of the cheapest games in the building. Wander into the middle of the table and you are playing one of the most expensive.

What the RTP numbers actually tell you

Casinos publish a return to player figure for craps and it is close to meaningless on its own, because craps does not have one price. It has a different price for every bet on the table.

• First Person Craps: 98.60%, published by Evolution and repeated on operator game pages.
• Evolution Live Craps: 99.17% at optimal play.
• Craps the Matrix from Win Studios: anywhere from 83.33% to 100% depending on which bet you select.
• DraftKings’ own craps game: reported at 83.33% to 97.33%.

That last pair of ranges is what every craps game really looks like, including the two quoted as a single number. The 98.60% assumes you are betting sensibly. Sit on the hardways all night and your real return is nowhere near it.

One more thing straight from BetMGM’s own game page, and it applies across the industry: the return to player rate may differ from one jurisdiction to another. The same titled game can be set differently in Michigan and New Jersey. If a page quotes you one RTP for the whole country, it is guessing.

Novelty craps games are a different animal

Craps the Matrix and GO Craps are not standard craps with a new coat of paint. They add side bets and grid mechanics that do not exist on a real table, and the house edge on those extras is not published anywhere I could find. The figures in my table above do not apply to them.

They are fine as a curiosity. Just do not carry a strategy across from standard craps and assume the numbers hold, because they do not, and nobody is telling you what they are.

Playing craps on a phone

Craps has the busiest layout of any casino game, which makes it the hardest one to squeeze onto a phone screen. How the casinos handle that varies more than the game itself does.

• Landscape is close to mandatory. In portrait most craps tables either shrink the betting areas to the point where you will misplace chips, or hide half the layout behind a scroll. Turn the phone.
• Look for a zoomed betting panel. The better implementations give you a simplified panel with the common bets as buttons, and the full felt only if you ask for it. That is the difference between placing the bet you meant and the one next to it.
• Evolution’s Easy Mode helps. Live Craps has a mode that limits the table to the simpler bets. On a phone that is a genuine usability feature, not a beginner crutch, because it removes the fiddly middle of the layout entirely.
• Live craps needs a real connection. It is streamed video with a betting window that closes on a timer. On patchy signal you will miss rounds. First Person Craps has no timer and no stream, so it is the one to open when your connection is poor.
• Check the minimum before you sit down. Table minimums on live craps run higher than the computer version, and you can burn through a small balance quickly when a single roll can settle several bets at once.

Who online craps suits, and who it does not

What works:

• The math is good. Backed with odds, the pass line is one of the cheapest bets in any casino, cheaper than almost every slot and most roulette bets.
• You can play at your own pace. First Person Craps has no other players to wait for, which is the opposite of a real table.
• The live tables are social. Real dealer, real dice, other people betting alongside you, and a chat box that is usually busy.
• Low stakes are available. Bet ranges start at fifty cents on the Evolution games, which is well below what any land based craps table will let you sit down for.

What does not:

• You will never shoot the dice. If that is the appeal, this is not going to replace the real thing.
• Availability is patchy. Seven states, and not every casino inside them.
• The table is intimidating on a small screen. More so than blackjack or roulette, and the games vary in how well they solve it.
• Bonus money often will not play here. Table games are commonly excluded from welcome offers or contribute a fraction of what slots do. Read the terms before you assume your bonus covers craps.

Frequently asked questions

The questions I see asked most often about playing craps online, answered plainly.

Can you play craps for real money online?

Yes, in seven states. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island have legal online casino gaming, and craps is available from licensed casinos in most of them. Anywhere else in the United States there is no legal option, whatever a site tells you.

Does every online casino have craps?

No, and this is the thing people get wrong. Craps is one of the least commonly carried table games in the regulated US market. Several licensed casinos do not offer it at all, and others carry only the computer version. Always check the lobby rather than assuming.

Is live dealer craps the same as First Person Craps?

No. First Person Craps is a computer game with no dealer and no physical dice, made by Evolution to look like their live studio. Live Craps is streamed video with a real dealer and real dice. A casino listing First Person Craps does not necessarily have the live game.

Can I throw the dice in online craps?

No. In live craps a mechanical launcher fires the dice down the table and the dealer operates it. In the computer version the dice are generated by software. There is no player shooter in either.

Which craps bet has the lowest house edge?

The free odds bet, at zero. It carries no house edge at all, but you can only place it after a point is established and only as backing for a pass, don’t pass, come or don’t come bet. After that, don’t pass at 1.36% and the pass line at 1.41%.

Which casino is best for craps?

For the game itself, the one that lets you back your line bet with the highest odds multiple, because that is what changes the price. On reported figures that is DraftKings at up to five times. Confirm it at the table, since the multiple is displayed in the game and casinos do change it.

Is online craps rigged?

The games at licensed US casinos are tested and approved by the state regulator before they go live, and the live tables use physical dice you can watch on camera. The computer versions use certified random number generators. The house edge is published and it is the only thing working against you.

Why do so few casinos offer live craps?

One company makes it. Evolution launched live craps in November 2020, which makes it a very young product by casino standards, and every US casino carrying live craps is carrying the same game from the same supplier.
